In-the-Bag Book Report

My students will be creating an "In-the-Bag" book report
this month.....
I am not so literate at Blogger, basically most tech stuff...
so I don't have a PDF file to share with you!
You can copy and paste this, though...

In-the-Bag Book Report              Name______________________
100 points                              Date______________ Per_____
Due ______________

Title of book____________________________________________

Author__________________________ Approved by teacher_______

You will complete a book report on the book you are currently reading (must be approved by Mrs. Morgan). Use the bag you are given to report on your book.

  1. On the front of the bag write your book’s title and author, and draw a picture to illustrate your book. You may attach a separate paper rather than drawing directly on the bag. Images from the Internet and copies of your book’s cover are not acceptable. Be creative! (10 points)

  1. On the back of your bag write a brief synopsis of your book. This may be done in summary form, and be at least seven (7) sentences. (10 points)

  1. On one side of the bag list the names of the major and minor characters in the book. Next to each name draw a picture of what you imagine the character to look like. (10 points)

  1. On the other side of the bag give a recommendation for this book.  Would your recommend this book to a friend? Think about the reasons why you would (or would not) recommend this book and use details about the book (seven (7) sentences minimum).  (10 points)

  1. Complete the written book report on the back of this page.  The written report should be word-processed, however a neatly printed final draft is acceptable. Place this inside of your bag.  (60 points)

                                                  continued on back

Written Book Report
(This goes “in” the bag when you are all finished)

Introductory Paragraph:
This paragraph should include the title of the book and name of the author. It will also describe the setting and quickly summarize what the book is about. Don't get too detailed here. It's just the introduction.

Body Paragraphs:
This is where the real content enters the picture. By reading this part of your book report (three to four paragraphs), your teacher will be able to determine whether you read the book and understood the story.

Start by describing the main characters of the story. Then, describe the conflict. Common conflicts include man vs. man, man vs. nature and man vs. himself. Your book may present a different kind of conflict. Describe it in detail.

The remaining body paragraphs should summarize the plot and describe how it relates to the conflict. Begin with the rising action, the part of the story where events build. Then describe the climax, where the story reaches its most dramatic or interesting point. The third paragraph should describe the falling action, when the conflict or problem is resolved.

The Conclusion
: This is an appropriate place to state your personal opinion of the book. What did you think of it? Describe its strengths and weaknesses. Would you recommend it to others? Why or why not? Remember, a winning paper will use examples from the book to back up comments.
